This week was full of sunshine, summer-like temperatures, and a whole lotta teething. Riv is uncomfortable about 80 percent of the time, constantly shoving his hands into his mouth, drooling up a storm, and screaming more often than not. I feel like he’s only comfortable when he’s asleep. Poor little guy! Watching your kid in pain is one of the worst things in the world and I’m still on the hunt for the best teething remedies. Hopefully, I’ll find some miracle-workers and be able to share them here soon. In the meantime, here are this week’s faves.
Neutral Baby Toy: Super colorful toys just aren’t my jam, but I feel like that’s all I can ever find in any baby store. But, of course, Amazon came to the rescue. My mom recently bought this one for Riv and he’s been loving it! It’s made of sustainable, un-dyed wood and easy for him to hold. It makes a little bit of noise as the wooden beads slide on the dowels, so it’s entertaining for baby but not annoying for mom. Double win!
Skip Hop Activity Center: Speaking of toys, this activity center is our absolute favorite. Yes, it’s got color, but it’s not super obnoxious. I feel like Skip Hop does one of the best jobs at keeping their items subtle but still visually stimulating for babies. This activity center comes with a seat that rotates 360 degrees on a standing platform and has just enough toys to entertain your baby without overwhelming him or her. The platform is also adjustable, so it can grow with your baby. It’s the only thing Riv can’t roll or climb his way out of lately and we are seriously obsessed. Plus, once he’s a little older, the platform can be placed on top of the seated area to become an activity table. This retails for $119 at Buy Buy Baby, Toys R Us, and everywhere else BUT it’s only $94.99 on Amazon and ships with Prime! No-brainer.
Baby Birks: I got a lot of questions about Riv’s Birk lookalikes a couple weeks and finally found the link. We got these as a baby shower gift (Thanks, Liv!) and are kind of obsessed. They’re super lightweight, have ankle straps, and stay put with velcro.
Huntington Beach Air Show: We accidentally ended up in the path of the HB Air Show yesterday and it was really freaking
loud cool. If anyone is in the area, I would definitely check it out. If you have any little ones, make sure to bring some headphones. The noise is no joke. You can watch the show from either Newport or Huntington Beach, and if you’re into exhibits, they’ll have a bunch of them on Main Street in Huntington throughout the weekend. It’s free and goes from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Happy weekending, friends!
