Basics with a Twist

I’m a jeans and basic tee girl through and through, but sometimes adding one additional piece to take my daily look to the next level is necessary. Kimonos are my go-to for doing just that. They’re easy, usually have a fun print, and are totally versatile. When I buy a kimono (or duster), I know it’s truly an investment piece — I can wear it over shorts, jeans, dresses, skirts, and swimsuits. Despite their versatility, it still pains me to buy anything printed that costs a fortune. Am I the only one that swears by only purchasing higher-priced items when they’re solid? I feel like I can get away with wearing a solid piece over and over again without it being too obvious and it makes justifying the higher price tag that much easier. Anyway, this kimono* is a STEAL at under 20 bucks, so there’s no guilt involved if you only wear it a couple times before handing it off to your mom or sister.

*It also comes in a super pretty green. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

This basic cropped tank is an absolute must-have (legit goes with everything) and is less than six dollars! I don’t care that I’m nearly 30 years old and shopping at Forever 21 — I am so not above a good, cheap find. It also makes it easier to keep your cool if your kid spits up on it a few too many times.

I’m a huge fan of high-waisted jeans with some holes (always) and a relaxed fit, especially when I’m rocking sandals (more skin showing near my feet makes the fit look more flattering IMO) and aiming for comfort. I couldn’t find this exact pair online, but I’m loving these and these.

Hope everyone’s weekend is full of sunshine! And if not, online shopping always helps.
